Today, Daily Job Finder has a great position for the environmentally conscious, looking to gain valuable grass-roots experience in the daily operations of a not-for-profit. The Fund for the Public Interest is hiring a Citizen Outreach Director in Austin.

The Fund for the Public Interest helps partner organizations leverage support through direct public outreach. Their partner organizations are the nation’s leading environmental and socially progressive groups. The Fund for the Public Interest believes passionately in the value of canvassing as the starting point for greater civic engagement in the democratic process.

Details: recruiting, training, supervising and working alongside a staff of 10-40 canvassers; reaching or exceeding your office’s fundraising and membership goals; overseeing all administrative functions related to fundraising, membership development, campaign work and general office management; taking charge of additional campaign field work including petition and letter-writing drives, coalition-building, news conferences, and grassroots lobbying; directors canvass three to four days per week to train staff, raise money, identify and activate members, and educate the public on the issues.

Qualifications: intelligent, interested in politics and action-oriented. Must be resourceful with a small budget and very motivated. Probably the most important, you need to convey the sense of urgency and passion that you have about the issues.
