Canadian Urban Institute- Economic Development Officer in Metro Manila!

The Canadian Urban Institute is a not-for-profit organization, that works with a broad range of partners, with the mission of creating thriving and harmonious cities, both here in Canada and internationally. They receive funding through the Canadian International Development Agency’s (CIDA) International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) to provide entry-level experience for recent graduates. The objective of the internship will be to support the achievement of the Philippines’ poverty reduction goals; this will be achieved by strengthening local governance and supporting sustainable local economic activities. As an intern, you can expect to: prepare case studies, news articles, and other relevant pieces of info; assist Project Team Management in gathering and organizing projects; coach project partners in policy analysis and drafting policy recommendations.

What they’re looking for: education and experience in local economic development, public policy, public finance, urban planning or related field; knowledge and/or skills in communication, facilitation, training, e-governance tools, policy analysis, feasibility analysis and proposal development; good understanding of international development and aid effectiveness; superb English language communication skills; demonstrated intercultural competency and sensitivity; project management skills with an understanding of results-based management techniques, would be considered an asset; fluency in Pilipino would be an asset.

The internship offers a stipend to cover travel and living expenses. The position is for a minimum of 6 months in the Philippines, with an additional month in Canada. The intern is expected to have access to a laptop for the entire duration of the internship.
