NDP – Constituency Assistant in Prince Rupert!

For all of you looking to carve out a career in Canadian politics, today’s position is an excellent one! Nathan Cullen, the MP for the Skeena-Bulkley Valley, is recruiting a qualified Assistant to work out of Prince Rupert, British Columbia!

The responsibilities of the position: manage communication priorities and media relations in the constituency; develop strategies to improve community economic development; handle incoming phone calls, email and walk-in traffic at M.P Constituency Office; design and host forums concerning community issues; work collaboratively with community groups; represent Member at events and meetings (Potential evenings and weekends); monitor events in riding and advise Member on issues concerning the riding; communicate goals to broader public.

Qualifications: proven communication skills (verbal and written); strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines; strong computer skills including Internet, Windows XP and MS Office 2003; familiarity with the riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley and riding priorities; knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement; administrative skills an asset; ability to work well with others.
