Today’s position is perfect for those of you with a predilection for the written word and a penchant for urban escapism: UrbanDaddy is seeking a freelance Copy Editor!
UrbanDaddy sends free daily e-mails with an amazing thing to do/see/taste in your city; they’ve got editions covering ten American cities, in addition to three other categories.
The person they’re looking to hire should be intimately acquainted with the rules of grammar, possess a keen eye for spelling errors and typos, and should pride him/herself on ensuring there aren’t any mistakes. Essentially, a high level of perfectionism is required to succeed in the role.
Requirements: read copy to detect errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax, modifying copy as necessary to conform to publication style; read copy to support editorial objectives, with an eye to ensuring the clarity, precision and readability of the language of the writer and assigning editors; work closely with the production coordinator to approve tests and ensure timely flow of copy.
What they’re looking for: minimum of one year copyediting experience for a consumer online magazine or consumer magazine; experience with online content; college degree in English or related field.
