Today’s position is a great one for all of you seeking to gain practical experience working for an international charity; their mandate is to lift children out of poverty and remove the barriers that surround education: Free the Children is seeking a Youth Programming Coordinator for its Toronto office!

Free The Children seeks a dynamic Youth Programming Coordinator who will help to manage its Youth in Action groups, administer awareness-raising and fundraising campaigns, and serve as an ambassador for the organization.

Responsibilities: develop and manage a portfolio of Free The Children’s Youth in Action Groups across North America (primarily by phone and email); general office and administrative work relating to work with contacts (e.g. updating databases, preparing packages, etc.); assist in the development of new resources, such as fact sheets and action guides; assist in the organization of special events and coordinate the attendance of youth at the events; seek out new/improved ways to engage youth effectively in Free The Children’s youth programming, as well as work to streamline key systems and processes; deliver public speeches and workshops to local schools and youth groups (when applicable).

What they’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Political Science, Economics, International Development/Relations or another relevant field; passion for social change and a demonstrated ability to engage others in a compelling fashion (fundraising or marketing experience an asset); experience mentoring or working with youth an asset; experience working with Microsoft Office Suites and knowledge of databases; proactive attitude, drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion; ability to engage others with excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines; excellent organizational, administrative and inter-personal skills; sound understanding of human and children’s rights issues at local, national and international level.

They’re looking for someone that can make a 2 year commitment to the position. The compensation is $1,250 base salary per month, which goes up to $1,350 after three months.
