Microcredit Summit Campaign – Internship in Washington!

Today’s position: Microcredit Summit Campaign is accepting applications for an internship beginning in the Winter/Spring semester in Washington, D.C.!

Microcredit Summit brings together microfinance practitioners, advocates, educational institutions, donor agencies, international financial institutions, non-governmental organizations and others involved with microcredit to promote best practices in the field, to stimulate the interchanging of knowledge, and to work towards reaching its goals.

The Microcredit Summit Campaign (MCS), a global anti-poverty campaign, seeks to reach and empower 175 million of the world’s poorest families with microloans by 2015.

The role: The Microcredit Summit Campaign is seeking two (2) interns for the Winter/Spring semester to assist in data collection, outreach activities to supporters and member institutions, and to assist with administrative tasks, communications, and basic research.


· Communicating with member institutions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to encourage action plan submission, answer questions, and clarify data.

· Researching areas for growth and targeting potential new member institutions.

· Reviewing MFI portfolio data on an ongoing basis and aggregating results.

· Gathering and compiling materials for annual report-related informational and promotional use (i.e., photos for cover and website).

· Supporting outreach and promotional strategies on social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Linked-In) as well as with major print and non-print media outlets in the US and internationally.

· Working with program team members on a limited range of backstop duties in preparation for the 2011 Global Microcredit Summit in Valladolid, Spain.

What they’re looking for: should be able to commit a minimum of 32 hours per week for a minimum of five months; proficient spoken and written English and Spanish and/or French required; highly motivated self-starters with a passion for international development, and particularly for reaching and empowering the very poor.
