Fundación Proacceso – Web Designer in Mexico City!

Today’s position: Fundación Proacceso is seeking a skilled Web Designer for its office in Mexico City! The candidate that they’re looking for not only has exceptional web design skills but also an interest in design that engages social issues.

The Fundación Proacceso is a non-profit based in Mexico City. Their main project is the RIA (Red de Innovación y Aprendizaje), a network of education centers that provides members of low-income communities in Mexico access to computers, the Internet and quality education. Within just over a year of operation, more than 62,000 users have registered at their centers. This year they will open 32 new centers, and they plan to reach 250,000 users by 2012.

The role: the Web Designer will partner with the Lead Designer to execute an overhaul of their websites, providing vital support to a fast-paced non-profit that is impacting the lives of thousands of low-income Mexicans. In addition, the Web Designer will conceive of new and innovative ways to connect the organization to the public.


·Partner with the Lead Designer to execute a redesign of the organization’s websites (Fundación Proacceso and the RIA). Once redesign is complete, continuously think of new ways to connect online viewers to projects through multi-media and interactive design.

·Design, develop and maintain websites.

·For the RIA website, develop ways in which RIA users can interact within an online community on the website.

·Create online infographics that illustrate the impact of the RIA and the challenges it works against, including lack of quality education, digital divide and poverty.

What they’re looking for: impressive design portfolio; thorough knowledge of CSS, HTML, PHP, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash; exceptional project management skills, with the ability to multi-task and get things done on time; experience with content management systems; thorough knowledge of SEO; degree in design preferred but not required; video editing and photography skills preferred but not required; some Spanish language skills preferred but not required.

Relocation for this position is required and the organization is willing to sponsor the right candidate to obtain a visa to work in Mexico.
