Today’s position: The David Suzuki Foundation is recruiting a Community Leadership Coordinator for their Vancouver office!

The role: the Community Leadership Coordinator is a self-starter responsible for coordinating the Foundation’s national volunteer programs.  The position works in partnership with DSF staff in developing and coordinating meaningful volunteer and grassroots leadership opportunities across Canada in support of DSF campaigns. The successful candidate will approach this work with passion and commitment, delivering the program and supporting growth in community engagement in ways that inspire others.

Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management

·Assist staff in the identification and development of volunteer opportunities and position descriptions.

·Support staff in volunteer recruitment and mobilization for national and local initiatives.

·Provide ongoing and regular support to volunteers, and ensure adequate training is provided.

·Cultivate and maintain working relationships with external stakeholders, including educational institutions and volunteer agencies, in support of volunteer engagement.

Community Engagement

·Work with DSF staff to support the success of initiatives across program areas through the strategic engagement of Community Leaders.

·Foster and nurture relationships with potential Community Leaders, weighing time investment with outreach potential.

·Manage communications with the Community Leader network, including surveys, invitations, etc.

·Find and develop web and social media content to showcase the work of DSF supporters.

Program Administration

·Manage the volunteer and community leader database, maintaining accurate records and tracking volunteer engagement.

·Manage email communications including new applications, public information requests and general stewardship.

·Maintain volunteer and community leadership web pages.

·In concert with skilled volunteers, develop posters, reading guides, toolkits and other materials for public engagement project.

What they’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree plus at least three years related work experience; + years volunteer program coordination experience required; significant experience in recruiting, volunteering and/or customer service; experience coordinating people, projects and programs; Post-secondary training in volunteer management considered an asset; strong English language skills required, French language skills considered an asset; a firm understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the David Suzuki Foundation is essential; good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matter; working knowledge of public relations, communications, and skilled at presenting to small or large audiences; demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and database programs.
