Aga Khan Foundation Canada – IMM Fellowship!

Posted on January 18, 2011

Today’s position: Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) is now accepting applications for their International Microfinance and Microenterprise (IMM) Fellowship!

As an international non-profit agency, the AKFC’s mission is to support social development programs in Africa and Asia. Their efforts are aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty. Their initiatives are concentrated in four areas: health, education, rural development, and building the capacity of NGOs.

The Fellowship matches young Canadians with organizations involved with microfinance or microenterprise. The Fellowship has two parts: the pre-departure Management Seminar and the overseas placement. The pre-departure portion is a month and is in Ottawa; Fellows are equipped with fundamental skills needed to make a contribution to their organization overseas. The eight month overseas portion places fellows with an NGO in a developing country.

The program is best for MBA, finance, commerce, business, or graduates from other related fields who want to apply their financial knowledge.

The pre-departure training is between May and June 2011. Overseas placements start in July 2011 and finish February 2012. This is a paid fellowship.

Interested? You can download the Fellowship reference form here. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2011.
